This service is designed for utilities facing persistent iron and manganese issues in their distribution systems. Staining complaints, chlorine depletion, and DBP formation are often symptoms of legacy metal buildup in water mains.

Our approach involves a long-term monitoring and dosing strategy to reduce system-wide iron and manganese concentrations — while supporting corrosion inhibitor optimization.

Service Overview:

  • Initial Baseline Study:
    Minimum of 3 months of hydrant sampling prior to corrosion inhibitor startup to establish baseline Fe/Mn conditions.

  • Long-Term Monitoring:
    One year or more of monthly sampling following inhibitor implementation to track distribution-wide improvements.

  • Sampling Scope:
    Monthly sampling at 12 dedicated hydrant sites, including:

    • 4 near the water plant

    • 4 at mid-range distances

    • 4 at system endpoints

  • Data Management:

    • Collection, analysis, and tracking of Fe/Mn trends over time

    • Visual reporting and summaries for utility staff and board presentations

  • Corrosion Inhibitor Coordination:

    • Direct communication and alignment with chemical vendors

    • Data-supported dosing guidance

    • On-site startup assistance with corrosion inhibitor feed system placement
